Note Bene
Ranked the "Top European Resort" in the 2002 Conde Nast magazine "Reader's Choice Awards," the resort is an 18th Century gothic-style manor. The hotel is housed in an impressive Manor House once owned by the Earl of Dunraven. It was built in the 1830's to the English model but with a number of eccentricities, including a turreted entrance tower at one corner of the building rather than in the centre, 52 chimneys (one to commemorate each week of the year). 75 fireplaces and 365 leaded glass windows (one for each day of the year).
